The Mosart Rundown Viewer provides a convenient, browser-based display of a Viz Mosart rundown.

Opening the Rundown Viewer

You launch the Rundown Viewer from the Mosart Web Apps Configuration Tool.

1. In the Configuration Tool, select Home and then the Rundown Viewer card.

2. The Rundown Viewer opens in your default web browser.

On a site with several studios, Home shows a strip of studio chips and groups the cards under Apps for the selected studio and Cross-studio. The Rundown Viewer is studio scoped, so pick the studio chip first and the card launches against that studio. See Studios.

Key Features

Viz Mosart server status

The Viz Mosart server status is displayed in the upper right corner.

The indicator tells the two kinds of trouble apart. A grey beacon means the server answers but its automation is stopped or still starting, and its tooltip reads Only Remote Control Service running. A red beacon means nothing answered at all, and its tooltip reads Server unreachable: the Remote Control Service is not answering, or the network or proxy cannot reach it. If Mosart Web Apps itself stops reporting, both beacons grey out and their tooltips read Status unavailable, which says the status feed is gone rather than blaming the servers. Hover a beacon to read which of these it is, together with the Viz Mosart Server version where that is known.

By default the indicator shows the hostname, IP address or FQDN configured for the studio's main and backup servers on the Studios page. In newer versions of Viz Mosart, the Server Description configured on each Viz Mosart server under Manus Administrator settings is used instead.

Choosing a studio from inside the app

Where studios with a Viz Mosart back end have been defined in the Configuration Tool, the top bar carries a studio picker, between the rundown name and the break timer. It is there even when only one such studio is defined, and it is absent only where none has been defined. It shows the studio the viewer is connected to, or (no studio) when none has been resolved, and opens a list of the available studios.

Choosing one reloads the page against that studio, so the picker and the ?studioId= parameter reach the same place. If the studio named in the address bar is not one of the studios in the list, for example after it was renamed or removed, the viewer connects to the first studio in the list instead, and the picker shows the studio it actually connected to. Only studios whose back end is a Viz Mosart server are listed, since those are the ones with a rundown to show.

Rundown display

The rundown is shown story by story, in running order, with each story's items along its row.

• Zoom. Zoom in and Zoom out in the left toolbar widen or narrow the item columns in a story row, which is what makes the full text on an item readable. Each press steps the zoom, and the buttons stop at the ends of the range.

• Scroll to on-air story. Whenever the story on air has been scrolled out of view, a Scroll to on-air story button appears over the rundown; clicking it jumps straight back to it. It is not shown while the on-air story is already visible.

• Autotake indicator. An item that is set to take automatically is marked with a vertical line and an arrow at the end of its planned-duration bar, matching the autotake marker in the Viz Mosart rundown window. This tells you at a glance which items advance by themselves and which wait for the operator.

• Story script. Show Story Script in the left toolbar opens a script panel alongside the rundown, and Hide Story Script closes it again. The panel shows the script for the story on air together with the story coming next. The script can also be opened on its own, or alongside the rundown from the start, with the parameters under Choosing what to display below.

Timers

A timer bar below the top bar carries the rundown's timing information: OVER/UNDER for the whole rundown, STORY COUNTDOWN for the story on air, and ITEM COUNTDOWN for the item on air. A value that starts with a plus sign means the timer is over, and its panel turns dark red. The time to the next break is shown as Next break in the top bar itself, and the Viz Mosart server status sits at the right-hand end of the timer bar.

Help and account

The Need help? button at the bottom of the left toolbar opens a menu with Documentation, What's new, Give feedback and About, the last of which reports the Rundown Viewer version and build.

Where authentication is enabled, the signed-in user's avatar sits at the right-hand end of the top bar. Clicking it shows the account and offers a way to sign out.

Keyboard shortcuts panel

The Rundown Viewer can display the Viz Mosart keyboard layout, showing which shortcut is mapped to which physical key, including the navigation keys and the numeric keypad. It is a reference display rather than a control surface: use it to see and to teach the keyboard mapping in use.

Show Keyboard in the left toolbar opens the panel, and Hide Keyboard closes it again. The panel takes up to half the screen alongside the rundown. To fill the whole window with it, for example on a dedicated monitor in a training room, open the Rundown Viewer with the keyboard parameter described below.

Choosing what to display

The Rundown Viewer can be opened showing only part of its content, which is what makes it useful as a wall or gallery display. Add one of these parameters to the URL:

Interface settings

The Interface settings button in the left toolbar opens a dialog headed Interface settings. It controls how much of each story title is shown, so the rundown can be tuned to the screen it is on. The settings are remembered in the browser you set them in, so each display can differ.

Save applies the changes and Cancel discards them.

Showing complete titles throughout is not part of this dialog. It is the Expand story title and Collapse story title toggle in the left toolbar, and it is unavailable while Max lines for story title is set to 4+, because there is nothing left to expand.

Session and Sign-in

This applies only where authentication (OIDC) is enabled for Mosart Web Apps.

The Rundown Viewer keeps its session alive for as long as its page is open, so a viewer on a gallery wall or a producer's desk is never signed out for sitting still.

It can still be signed out by an outage. If the browser cannot reach the server for longer than the configured session length, a Session timeout! dialog appears reading The connection to the server was lost for too long, so you have been logged out., with a Login button. Opening the Rundown Viewer against a session that had already lapsed, for example on a display PC that was switched off overnight, shows the same dialog reading Your session has ended. Log in to continue. instead.

An administrator can choose to let the Rundown Viewer time out when idle. Where that has been done, a You will be logged out soon dialog appears about a minute and a half before the session ends, with a countdown and the choice of Continue session or Log out now. See Setup and Administration of RV.
