Viz Now 1.1.0

Release Date: August 2023

These are the release notes for Viz Now version 1.1.0. This document contains a list of references to the new features, fixed issues and additional remarks regarding the user-visible changes that have been made to the software since version1.0.0.

Breaking Changes

images/s/-a05sou/8804/lgmmtf/_/images/icons/emoticons/thumbs_up.svg We are pleased to announce that any existing Viz Now Space will continue to function as expected after this update. No additional actions are required from existing customers.

Release Highlights

  • The onboarding process will implement access restrictions for roles that are created for Viz Now on customer accounts, aligning with the AWS Less Privileges policies.

Note: For existing customers, no further action is required, in respect of access restrictions.

Fixed Issues

  • When opening a remote session with the server in the browser, retrieving the password is now much simpler. Additionally, this functionality has been extended to work smoothly on Safari Mac.

  • An issue that caused a Space to be locked after a failed deployment is resolved.

  • An issue related to the reuse of a previously used hostname, which was preventing users from logging in, has now been fixed.

Viz Now 1.0.0

Release Date: May 2023

These are the release notes for Viz Now version 1.0.0. This document contains a list of references to the new features, fixed issues and additional remarks regarding the user-visible changes that have been made to the software since the Viz Now 0.7.0.

Breaking Changes

images/s/-a05sou/8804/lgmmtf/_/images/icons/emoticons/thumbs_up.svg Any existing Space will continue to work as expected after the update, but not all new features will be available.

Release Highlights

  • Viz Now users can now utilize a new File Transfer Tool to transfer multiple files to and from their deployed cloud apps. When configured this can be done by simply copying the files into a specified folder.

File Transfer feature is currently only supported by the Viz Vectar Plus App and only available in Spaces created after the 1.0 release. Support for more Apps coming soon!

  • Users can now establish VPC peering between their Spaces and other existing Spaces, which allows for advanced workflows and collaboration capabilities. To enable cross-Space communication, the user must manually configure the IP addresses in the relevant configuration files of each application. Furthermore, users can also set up VPC peering with AWS VPCs that are not managed by Viz Now, allowing them to integrate additional tools and workflows into their Spaces.

This feature is not universally available across all template types or older Spaces. To avoid incurring data transfer costs, it is important to ensure that the VPCs are located in the same AWS region.

Users must accept custom VPC peering on the receiving end and configure the traffic flow accordingly.

Improvements

  • It is now possible to configure certain apps prior to deployment, allowing for the enabling of LivePanel, the specification of disk space, passwords, and other settings.

  • The use of internal CIDR ranges within Spaces has been restricted to the private IP ranges of 10.0.0.0/8 and 172.16.0.0/12. The IP ranges of 192.168.0.0/16 and 169.254.0.0/16 are no longer permitted, except for cases where there are strong requirements for their use. In such cases, users may contact support for further assistance. The reason for limiting the use of internal CIDR ranges to only the private IP ranges of 10.0.0.0/8 and 172.16.0.0/12 is to avoid conflicts with public IP addresses on the internet.

Fixed issues

  • During redeploy operations some deploy operations were redone which could cause issues or take longer than needed.

  • Issue with too many Allowed IPs in a Space has now been solved. Maximum whitelisted IPs is now 240.

Known issues

  • Occasionally, when apps are added or removed from a space that has already been deployed and then the space is redeployed, an error message may appear after the redeploy has completed stating, "Your apps were deployed but something failed while configuring your instances, redeployment is advised. - file provisioner error". The apps should still work as expected but some pre-configuration operation may have failed. If the error persists after a redeploy please contact support for assistance.

  • On occasion, a deployment may not succeed due to insufficient quota, presenting an error that highlights exceeding the vCPU limit. This indicates that AWS is not permitting any more resources to be allocated to your account. Viz Now has requested for this quota to be increased on your behalf, but the approval process may take some time, possibly extending to a few days. For additional help, please reach out to the support team.

These are the release notes for Viz Now version 0.7.0. This document contains a list of references to the new features, fixed issues and additional remarks regarding the user-visible changes that have been made to the software since the Viz Now version 0.6.0 release.

Release Highlights

  • The Licensing Server of an Organization now has the ability to support Telos VIP licenses.

If you want to use this new feature, existing License Server to function correctly, they need to be destroyed and redeployed. (This change will need a manual change on Spaces to recreate VPC peering between Spaces and License Server but it will not affect to Instances already deployed)
If you don't need this new feature, you can continue with your existing License Server.
If you want to use Telos Alliance VIP but not changes on License Server, there is the option to MANUALLY install the MASI server into the License Server

  • Telos Alliance VIP now is fully working.

Improvements

  • The licensing server of an organization now has the ability to support Telos VIP licenses, however, for existing servers to function correctly, they need to be destroyed and redeployed.

  • All new deployments will utilize EBS gp3 storage.

  • After deployment, any changes made to the apps will be clearly highlighted.

  • Visualization of new and deleted apps

  • Users will automatically be added to the Allowed IP list when downloading shortcuts, opening an app or clicking HTML links within an app.

Fixed issues

  • During redeploy operations, the source image version used for the original deployment will now always be reused to avoid replacing the AMI with the latest version, which previously could result in the loss of data.

  • The issue of idle app startups due to insufficient resources on AWS has been resolved.

  • When resources are destroyed, the associated CIDR blocks will now be returned to the pool of available CIDR blocks.
