Most settings here are needed when you install the Mosart Web Apps bundle on a separate server to the Viz Mosart server, move the Web Apps to a different server, or need to define the Viz Mosart backup server. For securing the connections, see HTTPS and Certificates and Authentication.

Server addresses

Under the automatic proxy setup, all default settings are pre-filled and no further action should be necessary. If you need to change any values:

  • PROXY WEB SERVER, Address: Hostname or IP address of the machine where the Mosart Web Applications are installed. The system attempts an auto-detect. If the FQDN is required (for example, by a certificate), provide this instead.

Under the manual proxy setup, where you run your own reverse proxy, this becomes a single URL instead of an address and port.

Info: The Viz Mosart server addresses are not on this page. Each studio carries its own Viz Mosart host, port and optional backup server on the Studios page. If you are following older instructions that send you here for a main or backup Mosart server, go to Studios instead.

Ports the tool manages

The browser-facing proxy port defaults to 55142 on plain HTTP and 55143 with HTTPS, and the tool switches between the two when you turn HTTPS on or off. The Viz Mosart server ports on the Studios page default to 55167, or 55168 when you supply your own certificate.

In both cases the tool only rewrites a port that still holds one of those defaults. A port you typed yourself is never touched, so if you use a custom port, remember to update it yourself after changing HTTPS or the certificate mode. The Web Apps server behind the proxy uses 65142 and 65143 and is not exposed on this page.

Click Save after changes.

Sign-in and sessions

The sign-in and session controls are rendered on this page in the Configuration Tool, in the Authentication (OIDC) block, but they are documented together with the rest of authentication on the Authentication page.

Two of them are new in 3.3 and sit immediately below Scopes:

  • Session timeout: how long an unused session survives before sign-in is required again, in minutes.

  • Allow session timeout: one switch per web app, deciding whether that app's open pages keep the session alive or let it time out when idle.

Mosart API Access

The MOSART API ACCESS block is shown only when the proxy setup method is Automatic. Under a manual, external proxy the tool does not offer it, because the key is attached by the bundled proxy.

The Authorization Key is the Viz Mosart server's REST API key, configured on the Mosart server under Remote Controller Service > Security. When the Mosart server runs in API-key mode, the web proxy attaches this key to the calls that need it, so the browser never sees the key itself. It is used for:

  • The Named Overlays Editor: reading and writing named overlays, including the Sync to backup server function.

  • Clip search against older Viz Mosart servers (before 5.16). From Viz Mosart 5.16, clip search uses the server's live connection and does not need the key.

  • Availability checks the Configuration Tool itself runs, for example whether the Mosart server's settings editor is reachable.

Note: The same key is sent to every Viz Mosart server the Web Apps talk to: main, backup, and every studio's servers in a multi-studio installation. All of them must therefore be configured with the same REST API key.

Info: With OIDC authentication enabled on the Mosart servers, the REST API key is not accepted there and this field is not used: the apps send the signed-in user's token instead. See the Authentication page.

Media Sequencer

Smart Panel can drive a Media Sequencer directly, for button actions that take an MSE graphic and for Asset List widgets that read their content from a Media Sequencer playlist or show.

Under MEDIA SEQUENCER, enter the Address of the Media Sequencer and its REST API Port. The default port is 8580. A Pilot Edge Action Panel can also use this Media Sequencer as its playout target, which needs an address other than localhost.

Viz Arc

Smart Panel buttons can execute Viz Arc actions. To make them available, enter the Address and Port of the Viz Arc REST web service under VIZ ARC. The default port is 9004. The Configuration Tool probes the host as you type and reports whether the service answers.

Note: The Viz Arc REST web service must be running on that host, and it requires its own licence. The Web Apps server calls Viz Arc on behalf of the browser, so only the Web Apps host needs network access to it.

Pilot Data Server

Smart Panel's Pilot Edge Action Panel widget frames a Viz Pilot Edge template, picked by title from a Viz Pilot Data Server. Enter the server once here; each widget then only carries its template and playout target.

Under PILOT DATA SERVER, enter the Address, a host name or IP address only, with no http:// or https://, and the Port. The Pilot Data Server's default ports are 8177 for HTTP and 7373 for HTTPS: enter the one it serves. An empty Port means 8177. HTTP or HTTPS is detected automatically on that port. The Configuration Tool probes the host as you type, reports whether it answers, and refuses to save until it does.

  • Pilot Edge: which Viz Pilot Edge install Smart Panel frames, offered only when the Pilot Data Server you entered lists more than one. The Configuration Tool keeps a choice the server still lists, or else picks the standard install (pilotedge). If the server lists several and none is the standard install, choose one: until you do, Save is refused with Choose the Pilot Edge to use.

  • Template Builder: which Template Builder the widget's Edit in Template Builder opens, offered only when the Pilot Data Server lists more than one, and chosen the same way (standard install templatebuilder).

  • Pilot sign-in: how Pilot Edge signs in to a secured Pilot system. Default (dynamic) lets Pilot Edge choose: a popup, falling back to a redirect. Popup forces a popup with no fallback. The sign-in happens in the operator's browser.

  • Client ID (optional): a public OIDC client ID to sign in with, overriding the Pilot system's own default. It is sent whichever sign-in method is chosen.

Info: If you leave Address empty, the Web Apps use the server of a Viz Pilot Edge plugin configured for Showmaker or the Named Overlays Editor, and the empty field shows that server, for example From Pilot plugin: pds01. The sign-in settings in that plugin's URL then apply too: a popup sign-in set there overrides Default (dynamic), and its client ID is sent unless you enter a Client ID. A plugin on localhost is not used, because the browser would then look for the Pilot Data Server on the operator's own machine.

Note: Unlike Viz Arc, the Pilot Data Server is reached by the operators' browsers directly, so it must be reachable from every machine that runs Smart Panel, and from the Web Apps host. When the Web Apps use HTTPS, browsers block a Pilot Data Server on plain HTTP: use its HTTPS port (7373 by default).

Video Clips

Video clips (PACKAGE templates) can be presented with various details. This setting controls how clips are labelled in the web apps that list them, such as Smart Panel.

The dropdown is labelled Video clip is displayed with and offers five choices:

Option

Shows

Name

The clip name. This is the default.

Description

The clip description only.

Description or Name

The description, falling back to the name for a clip that has no description.

Description and Name

Both, description first.

Name and Description

Both, name first.

TriCaster Live Previews

If your studio uses a TriCaster, Smart Panel can show its video inputs and outputs as Live previews. The Mosart web server proxies the streams on behalf of the browser, so it needs the TriCaster address and a user account.

  1. In the Configuration Tool, open Server Configuration and scroll down to TRICASTER FOR LIVE PREVIEW.

  2. Enter the TriCaster Address and the Username / Password of an account with access to the TriCaster web browser URL.

After this, TriCaster sources become selectable as preview sources in the relevant Web App.

Info: NDI sources need no configuration here. Mosart Web Apps discovers NDI sources on the network itself, so a Smart Panel live video element can list and preview them directly.
