If you are using the Pilot Edge version 3.0 or later, you can host the NRCS Plugin within the Pilot Edge Plugin.

Hosting NRCS Plugin within Pilot Edge

Set Up

To activate the NRCS Plugin in Pilot Edge

  1. Open your Pilot Data Server.

  2. In the menu bar, click Settings.

  3. On Pilot Settings at the top right, right-click and select Add New Optional Parameter.

  4. In the Name field, add the name moseditor_mosart_url. This now appears under the Name column.

  5. Under the Value column, enter the URL to your Mosart NRCS Plugin.

Tip: You can fetch this address from the Configuration Tool by selecting App Configuration > NRCS Plugin and copying the value of Preview URL.

  1. At the top left, click Save.

Note: If you are using the Pilot Edge on HTTPS, the Mosart NRCS plugin must also be on HTTPS.

Info: Enter the plugin URL exactly as the Configuration Tool gives it. Pilot Edge adds what it needs to identify itself when it opens the plugin, and the plugin recognises Pilot Edge from that, so there is nothing further to append.

Working with the Mosart NRCS Plugin in Pilot Edge

  1. In your newsroom system, open the Pilot Edge Plugin.
A new tab Mosart appears at the top.

  2. Click the tab to open the Mosart NRCS Plugin.

  3. To add a Mosart item to your rundown, select the item and drag in the Cross icon at the top right of the plugin. For a MOS-based NRCS, the Send to newsroom system option is also available.

  4. To edit an added item, Pilot Edge automatically opens the NRCS Plugin inside Pilot Edge. In the iNews newsroom system, use the OK, Apply, or Cancel buttons (specific to iNews) to modify and close, modify without closing, or cancel the editing, respectively. In a MOS-based NRCS, the Pilot Edge plugin includes the Update in newsroom system button.

What is different in Pilot Edge

Pilot Edge supplies the controls that place an item in the rundown, so the plugin's own equivalents are deliberately not offered here. Compared with running the plugin directly in a newsroom system:

  • There is no Add to Story button, and dragging a template out of the plugin does nothing. Use Pilot Edge's Cross icon or Send to newsroom system instead, and its Update in newsroom system button when editing.

  • Copy MOS object to clipboard is not offered.

  • The newsroom system is not shown for editing in the plugin's Settings, because Pilot Edge has already told the plugin what it is.

You still select a gallery and template set, filter and search templates, and edit variables, transitions and timings exactly as described in Working with the NRCS Plugin.

Info: Your edits are handed to Pilot Edge as you make them. Every time you select a different template or change a value, the plugin passes the updated Mosart item and its description straight to Pilot Edge, so what Pilot Edge shows for the item always matches what you have in front of you. There is no separate step in the plugin to confirm a change; you commit it with Pilot Edge's own button.
