Mosart Web Apps 3.3

We're happy to announce Web Applications 3.3. This release belongs to Showmaker: stories can now carry properties such as status or reporter, so a rundown can be coloured, read at a glance and filtered down to the stories you need, and a new Show settings page brings a show's story properties, reading-speed presets, story durations and automatic rundown cleanup together in one place. Users are now informed when signing-in and before being signed out. And in Smart Panel, the clocks now read in the time zone and format of wherever the panel is being watched, rather than the Mosart server's.

Showmaker
Showmaker 3.3 is about the shape of a show: the properties its stories carry, the settings the show itself owns, and getting back to the rundown you were last in.
Stories that carry properties
A show can now define the properties its stories carry, such as status, reporter or desk, together with the values each story can choose from. Set them on a story from the Properties tab, then open the funnel in the story list and filter by a value to show only the stories you need. A story can also carry its own custom properties for something the show has not defined.
A status that reads at a glance
Give a property value a colour and every story carrying it shows a coloured chip in the story list, so the state of a rundown is legible without opening anything. Colours are picked per value in Show settings, from a fixed palette whose labels are checked for contrast, so no choice can leave a value illegible.
Show settings in one place
Much of what a show decides now lives on a Show settings page of its own, reached from the gear in the show header: story properties and their colours, reading-speed presets, how story durations behave, the show's default rundown, and automatic rundown cleanup. The Edit show dialog still holds the show's own details, its name, times, banner and studio. Changes save as you make them, and the header tells you where it is up to, from Saving to All changes saved.
Automatically delete old rundowns
A show that has been running for a year carries a year of rundowns. Turn on Automatically delete old rundowns, choose how old is old enough and whether the sweep runs daily or weekly, and Showmaker keeps the list tidy for you. The weekday and time are the ones on your own clock, wherever you set them from. Because this cannot be undone, the settings include a preview that counts the rundowns the schedule would remove and lists them, the oldest hundred where there are more, before you commit to it.
Back to what you were editing
The top bar carries a Recently edited menu of the rundowns you worked on most recently, so you can reopen one without going back through its show. Recent dates now read Today and Yesterday in rundown lists, on Show Assets and in the menu itself, instead of a date you have to decode. The panel is named for the last-edited time each row carries, and it no longer appears on the Show Assets page, where it had nothing to point at.
A story list you can size
Drag the divider to widen the story list when a show has long story names, and click it to put the width back. The filter panel's rows are all the same height again, so the first and last no longer sit taller than the ones between them.
Smart Panel
Clocks that show your time, not the server's
Time of Day and Next Break Time now show the moment in time where the panel is being watched, instead of the wall clock of the Mosart server. By default they follow the machine running Smart Panel, and a Configuration Tool option switches them back to the server's time zone where that is what you want.
The format follows the same idea. The clocks read the browser's language settings by default, always with a two-digit hour. Because a browser cannot see the Windows regional format, the Configuration Tool gains a Smart Panel tab where you can set it explicitly: 24 or 12 hour, leading zero, and the region that decides the separators and the AM and PM text. A live preview shows the result as you choose, and Use this PC's settings copies the format from the machine running the Configuration Tool.
Smart Panel reads both settings once when it starts.
Template Editor (early access)
On-air protection
Macro Recall commands gain On-air protection. While a template is on air it can block other templates' macros as they are cued, either all of them or only protected macros of the same type, with a take always running its own macro.
Help text that fits
Help text for settings explanations, such as On-air protection or Mix delay, now display in full.
Security
Signing in and staying signed in is the theme of this release's security work. For setting up sign-in end to end, including what your identity provider must put in the tokens, see the Viz Mosart Administrator Guide, chapter Security in Viz Mosart Ecosystem.
The session timeout is now an idle timeout. A signed-in session used to be renewed only by ordinary page traffic, so an app that talks to the server over its live connection, as Showmaker does, ran out around half an hour after sign-in however hard you were working, and the warning and logout could arrive mid-script. The countdown now starts from your last activity, so an active session stays alive and only genuine idleness ends it. The timeout, and which apps are allowed to time out at all, are configurable in the Configuration Tool.
Work is no longer lost after an idle spell. Showmaker could stop saving silently once a session had gone stale, with the loss only becoming visible on reload, when the journalist's edits were gone. Sessions are now renewed and their expiry handled explicitly across all the apps, so you are told to sign in again rather than typing into a page that has quietly stopped saving.
Reminder: The Timing Display web app was removed in Web Apps 3.1. Smart Panel provides all of its capabilities and more; see the migration notes for Timing Display in the Web Applications User Guide.
Installation and Upgrade
Installation: To download this version, please visit the Vizrt FTP site at download.vizrt.com and navigate to /products/VizMosart/Latest Version/WebApplications/.
Upgrade: The installer manages the upgrade, automatically removing older versions of Vizrt Mosart Web Applications and the Vizrt Mosart Web Applications Configuration Tool before installing the new package.
Remember to close any running version of the Vizrt Mosart Web Applications Configuration Tool before upgrading.

Server-side enforcement of the

Rundown Viewer: Viz Mosart 5.1.0 or later. The autotake indicator requires Viz Mosart 5.16 or later, the first version that reports autotake state; on earlier versions the indicator is not shown.
Showmaker: Viz Mosart 5.14.3 or later. Story properties, Show settings and automatic rundown deletion are administered by users with the Showmaker administrator role.
Smart Panel: showing Time of Day in the viewer's own time zone requires Viz Mosart 5.17 or later; against an earlier server it keeps showing the Mosart server's wall clock. The regional format setting works with any server.
Named Overlays Editor: Requires a running Viz Mosart server reachable through the Mosart Remote Control Service. Viz Pilot Edge is optional and needed only for the Pilot Edge panel.
