Viz Channel Branding 5.5.0
Release Date: 2025-11-28
These release notes describe the user-visible changes made to Viz Channel Branding version 5.5.0 since release 5.4.0.
Upgraded Framework
While the 5.0 was the finalization of the migration from old Win32 Delphi to WPF and .Net, there was also the upgrade from 4.6.1 Net Framework to 4.8 version. With this release we are taking the next leap in migrating all the code and associated libraries to .NET8 - Microsoft’s modern, actively supported platform - allowing for performance gains, enhanced security now and in the future, as well as allowing us to set the stage to work towards a cross-platform flexible solution and better future-proof our technology.
An additional benefit is that this framework upgrade has enabled this release to undergo comprehensive testing and verification against Window 11 systems, which is now a supported OS.
New Features
Integrations Hub REST API v2 now has a information endpoint per channel. First addition to it is a status report of the current playout handlers for the channel.
Any page that is in an active playing playlist can via a context sensitive menu be requested to have their manually typed page fields or query page fields, or both, updated to the new content of the page in the page pool.
Improvements
The Promo Server configuration now more accurately displays the connection status to the server component during setup.
The Page Editor title now provides additional information, such as the page description and whether the page is edited by reference.
Excel Schedule import has increased support for number of columns that can be addressed, from maximum 1 character (A-Z) to 3 (A-XFD), allowing access to all columns in Excel (16,384 columns wide).
Media Service settings in Global Settings are reworked, enabling devices to be configured by Type and explicitly selecting a service that is active.
The Excel file support by Playlist Importer is reimplemented, removing the need for an installation of the Office package for it to work.
The root API end-point for Integrations Hub REST API v1 and v2 now advertises the specific version of the API.
Timeline slider in Preview Panel in Page Editor has been improved for a better user experience, when clicking or dragging progress indicator.
Fixed Issues
When a page is added by Rules, the
pagepool_pageattribute is now properly set to track the original name from the Page Pool.Corrected issue that would prevent a page with database query set in a page field from having that definition being properly included when added by schedule.
Preview Panel in Page Editor now shows a scene duration related to the actual scene design instead of a standard, 30 seconds value.
The column Page Content Value now have a tooltip so one can observe the full value on mouse hover if the content is longer than column width.
Under some conditions a call against a database to retrieve columns could silently fail if the regional setting used non-standard decimal separator.
Using the Step-controls in Preview Panel of Page Editor will now properly step an amount to output framerate and pause after stepping it.
When deleting a combo-template, scene-selector and scene-info data entries are no longer deleted if used by other (combo-) templates.
Promo Server configuration downlinks now properly list the client-relevant IP in the payload reply instead of the local address.
