Service Host Release Notes

In these release notes, you will find the following topics:

Service Host 1.5.0

Release Date: 2020-12-04

These are the release notes for Service Host version 1.5.0. This document describes the user-visible changes that have been done to the software since release 1.4.0.

New Features

  • Support for X.mio5 boards and NMOS discovery.

  • Support for both Viz 3.x and Viz 4.x by automatically detecting the installed version (SH-359).

  • Ability to configure a Windows Session (as Service Host or User Session) to start Viz Engine. This is a workaround for Windows Session 0 Isolation problems, due to additional operating system restrictions that restrict GPU access from Session 0 (SH-365).

  • Support for WIBU OEM licenses and the latest WIBU license format (data stored in the license) (SH-376).

Note: It may require a refresh/reactivation of existing licenses that lack this information. If an error with "This might be caused by an outdated WIBU license." or missing information happens, the WIBU licenses in the container may need to be updated/renewed. All licenses issued after the end of March 2019 should contain this data already.

  • Ability to configure the WIBU license container and core license in the Channel Recorder and WebRTC configuration (SH-379).

Known Issues

  • Configuration page needs to fetch the license information. This results in a wait time until the configuration pages for plug-ins show up.

  • Service Host is not forward compatible. Configurations created with a newer version will not work on older versions.

  • Service Host is not able to start Viz Engine if DCH type of nVidia driver is installed. Try to configure Service Host to start Viz Engine on User Session or clean install "Standard" type of nVidia driver instead.

  • Service Host is not able to start Viz Engine when it is configured to start Viz Engine on User Session when no users interactively logging on.

  • For WebRTC plug-in, the nVidia Standard Driver is mandatory. DCH drivers are known to be incompatible.

  • Special characters not supported when trying to rename services while using Firefox.

Supported Hardware and Software

This software has been tested to run on the following systems:

  • Windows Server 2016 (64-bit), Windows Server 2019 (64-bit)

  • Windows 10 (64-bit)

Note: Only English Operating System(s) are supported.

Installation

  • Administrator privileges are required to install Service Host.

  • OpenSLP is installed along Service Host if not present.

  • The WIBU Codemeter runtime 7.10a is installed if not already present.

Activation

Service Host does not require any license; however, it installs the WIBU Codemeter runtime.

Several Service Host plug-ins like Channel Recorder or WebRTC preview do require licenses.

Channel Recorder with Service Host 1.5.0

Driver Versions

  • For Matrox video cards, driver version 10.1.101.24973 is required. Pre-Release versions are not supported.

  • Uninstall previous versions of Matrox DSX.Utils prior installing this driver.

  • Install drivers only from a local drive.

  • Reboot between uninstall and install of drivers, and another time after installation has finished.

  • The VfW codecs are included in this driver, so uninstall previous versions of the Matrox VfW codecs and do not install any Matrox VfW codecs over the regular driver installation.

Upgrade Notes

  • Old version of Channel Recorder (1.x) should be uninstalled before installing this version.

  • The Server Search list may be reset when upgrading Codemeter Runtime. Please make sure that the Server Search list is correct after an upgrade.
