Pilot Data Server 8.6.1

These are the release notes for Pilot Data Server version 8.6.1. This document describes the user-visible changes that have been made to the software since release 8.6.0.

Fixed Issues

  • Resolved an issue where an error was intermittently received when attempting to save a data element as new inside ActiveX (PDS-501).

  • Resolved an issue where the layer drop-down placement was changed in the fill-in form (PDS-518).

Pilot Data Server 8.6.0

These are the release notes for Pilot Data Server version 8.6.0. This document describes the user-visible changes that have been made to the software since release 8.5.0.

Fixed Issues

  • An issue whereby some elements in the atom entries returned by the PDS were missing their namespace prefixes was fixed. (PDS-489)

  • The Pilot Database will now return an error message when it cannot retrieve a proper id for new templates or data elements. This can happen if there is a communication error with the GraphicHub. Trying the call again should get around the error. (PDS-501)

System Requirements

One of the following operating systems (supported as long as they have support from their own manufacturer):

  • Windows Server 2019

  • Windows Server 2016

Visual C++ 2013 redistributable:

Note: If the Visual C ++ 2013 Redistributable Package is not installed, some software, such as Director and Media Sequence, may encounter an HTTP 500 issue when connecting to Pilot Data Server.

As Pilot Database, either of:

  • Graphic Hub 3.3.0 or higher with Graphic Hub REST 2.3.0 or higher

  • Oracle 11g or higher with schema version 8.3.0 or higher

Recommended versions of other related products:

  • Viz Pilot 8.6

  • Preview Server 4.4.1

  • Graphic Hub 3.4.2

  • Graphic Hub Rest 2.4.2

  • Template Builder 2.0

  • Oracle 12c

Changes and Improvements

  • It's now possible to save custom thumbnails for a template using the Rest interface of the server by passing the information in the atom entry. This change supports an upcoming Template Builder feature. (PDS-401)

  • Added the new VCP parameter, allow_subfield_in_view, which is used client-side to determine if subfields can be added to custom layouts. Should be set to true when using Preview Server 4.4.1 or above, and set to false otherwise.
