Viz Trio 4.4.0

Release Date: 2025-06-02

These are the release notes for Viz Trio version 4.4.0. This document describes the user-visible changes that have been done to the software since release 4.3.1.

Release Highlights

This release of Viz Trio introduces the ability to create and manage playlists using Viz Pilot Edge elements and provides initial support for the upcoming Viz Pilot backend. This allows users to produce shows directly in Viz Trio without relying on NRCS or MOS playlists.

Furthermore, we are introducing a redesigned and faster Media Search panel, improvements to the Graphic Hub REST Scene importer (now called Rapid Import), and a new way to control waiting times from one place without intruding on existing macros and scripts.

New Features

  • Create a Media Sequencer hosted playlist and populate it using Viz Pilot Edge elements (TRIO-6452).

  • The new wait command allows custom delay between actions in a macro, defining the wait amount on a system wide base, per use of other commands (TRIO-6414, TRIO-6445).

Improvements

  • Playlist and Page List can now indicate content type, such as Viz Pilot Edge (elements), TL (for transition logic) and Combo (for pages based on a Combo Template) (TRIO-6023).

  • Graphic Hub archive import now displays a progress dialog, instead of merely freezing the main UI until done (TRIO-6447).

  • The Playlist elements Run and Preview status, expand from icon, to show a clear highlight for the full element line (TRIO-6375).

  • Media Search Frame reimplemented for performance and visual clarity, such as thumbnails displaying results without delay (TRIO-6395, TRIO-6434).

  • Transition Scene script increased the amount of characters used as a parameters from 200 to 1000. transitions.via must be reimported to allow this (TRIO-6168).

  • There is now a user setting to follow classic tabfield tab order, as seen in Viz Trio 3.x (TRIO-6461).

  • Viz Pilot Edge configured behind a failover, is now supported (TRIO-6482).

  • Page Editor side panel icons have tooltips to help and guide users (TRIO-6363).

  • The Viz Trio Profile configuration dialog and statusbar, can now display superchannel information (TRIO-5934).

  • A MOS playlist properly appears after activating the rundown in NRCS (TRIO-6417).

  • Scene import can be triggered by drag-dropping a scene from the scene browser, into the template pool (TRIO-6341).

  • The command-line parameter -usersetting can be used to share configuration layout for multiple clients (TRIO-6489).

  • Added the configuration for Viz Pilot Edge’s address as a setting (TRIO-6502).

  • Reimplemented gui:edit_page_description to allow a macro to step into editing mode, for the description of an element (TRIO-6450).

  • When using Viz Engine 5.1 and performing a Rapid Import, a new command allows a quicker creation of VDF for a scene (TRIO-6366).

  • Rapid Import reports progress and any seen errors in the log section (TRIO-6365).

  • Description of master template is now properly set during Rapid Import (TRIO-6405).

  • When using Media Sequencer 5.8.0 or newer and Rapid Import, the Export Mode fields are properly reflected (TRIO-6406).

Fixed Issues

  • Local preview is now updated with every keystroke when editing values in a Table Editor (TRIO-6398).

  • Activating GPI triggering with an unset (blank) command for an entry, no longer reports an error entry to the log-file (TRIO-6443).

  • If auto-login to Graphic Hub is set to false, setting and later removing the Graphic Hub address, no longer causes an exception shown on startup (TRIO-6403).

  • Page Editor now accurately reflects the caret position when selecting part of the text in the editing section (TRIO-6319).

  • Assigning a script from a file now works without issues being listed in the errors section (TRIO-6458).

  • Hovering the mouse cursor over a vertical toolbar button and holding the Tab key, shows an exception (TRIO-6459).

  • Scripts are now able to properly use COM objects, used by the external application, to populate data in pages (TRIO-6438).

  • Visual flickering when scrolling large pilot element playlists, has been removed (TRIO-6421).

  • Exporting and importing very large collections of pages is now possible without raising an out-of-memory exception (TRIO-6570).

  • Data in using a Control List plugin in a Combo page can now be edited (TRIO-6415).

  • Text Tabfield with the ‘single line' property set to true, no longer accepts Enter and Shift-Enter keys, to introduce new lines (TRIO-6457).

  • Script parser adjusted to allow the usage of extended Unicode characters in unit names in a script, without raising an exception (TRIO-5398).

  • Running scripts and setting not allowed values to properties, no longer raise an exception, but logs the information nicely (TRIO-6314).

  • Using Insert range of pages could raise an exception, this has been corrected (TRIO-6462).

  • Live preview of Combo page with formatted text Tabfield, now works correctly (TRIO-6460).

  • Automatic selection of next element in playlist or pagelist after read, now works as it should (TRIO-6330).

  • If a Tabfield editor value is set from a script or macro, the field is no longer automatically set to gain focus (TRIO-6485).

  • In a Table Editor (Control List plugin), now using the spacebar when navigating around the fields, quickly adjusts its state (TRIO-6505).

  • Tab order for Table Editor when a row is selected, is aligned to what Viz Trio 3.x had (TRIO-6509).

  • Under specific conditions, deleting data in Table Editor, could raise an exception (TRIO-6504).

  • The navigation of Control List via Table Editor, using arrow keys and mouse-click, has been corrected (TRIO-6507).

  • Profile names containing underscore, are now properly shown in the profile list, in the quick selection menu (TRIO-6531).

  • Text copied from a cell to another in a Table Editor (Control List plugin), no longer contains unwanted mark-up details (TRIO-6524).

  • When inserting or deleting a row in a Table Editor (Control List plugin), there is no longer a loss of cursor position (TRIO-6526).

  • Doing a Cut (Ctrl + X) inside a text cell in a Table Editor (Control List plugin), could result in the full selected row being copied and removed (TRIO-6534).
