The Named Overlays Editor is a web-based tool for creating and managing the named overlay graphics that Viz Mosart triggers during a live show. Named overlays are pre-configured graphics, such as lower thirds, tickers, breaking news banners and full-screen graphics, that are recalled by name from templates and control commands.

The editor lets users set up overlay graphics from different sources, configure how they behave on air (timing, destination handler, and when they are taken out), and organize them for use in automation workflows.
It is part of the Mosart Web Apps package and is served alongside the other Mosart web applications.

• Search, filter and sort: find overlays by text, filter by handler or out mode, and sort by name, handler, provider, or the order they were added.

• Sync to backup server: in a main/backup setup, one click copies the main server's named overlays to the backup server, so the two stay aligned. Syncing is not automatic in this version, so run it after changing overlays, but what used to be a manual file exercise is now a single button, with a report of what was copied and removed.

• Mosart server status: a live connection indicator for the main and backup servers, right in the toolbar.

• Thumbnail previews for Pilot Edge graphics, resolved from the Pilot Data Server.

Typical Workflow

1. Configure the graphics provider. An administrator sets up the Viz Pilot Edge plugin. See Setup and administration for details. The provider is optional: custom overlays and XML import work without it.

2. Open the Named Overlays Editor from the App Launcher in the Mosart Web Apps Configuration Tool, or browse directly to /namedoverlayseditor/ on the Mosart Web Apps host.

3. Add overlay graphics. Use the sidebar to open Viz Pilot Edge, browse the available templates, and send one to the editor. Alternatively, create a custom overlay by hand.

4. Configure overlay properties. For each overlay, set the destination handler, the take-in delay in frames, and when the graphic is taken off air, which can be after a set duration (Timecode), at the end of the background item, at the end of the story, on an open end, or manually. Optionally add NamedCG actions and NCS content placeholders.

5. Organize and review. Use search, filters and sorting to manage the overlay list, adjust descriptions and settings, and delete overlays you no longer need.

6. Back up or migrate. Export the overlay set to XML for backup or to move it to another environment. In a main/backup setup, use Sync to backup server after your changes so the backup carries the same overlays. Overlays themselves live on the Mosart server and are available to automation as soon as they are created.
